What is the FSC
.......................................................................
We at Brunswick Woodworking believe that our future and our children’s futures are hinged on the responsible and proper use of our natural resources. Without the proper monitoring and utilization of our precious natural resources, we face a bleak outlook for the future of our environment, our world, and our well being. Brunswick Woodworking has invested substantial resources into developing methods that are relevant and comprehensive regarding design, fabrication and field installation issues that directly relate to factors that affect our environment.
The Forest Stewardship Council or FSC is an independent, non-governmental, international not for profit organization that was established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. The Forest Stewardship Council standards are recognized as the most rigorous of the Forestry management programs available today and the only certification system with a well established Chain of Custody certification.
Forest Certification is a concept that originated in the 1990's and has grown quickly to accommodate the changing needs and interest for responsible forest management and the interest in "green" building.
Brunswick Woodworking attained FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) Certification number is FSC-COC-002212, which was attained in February of 2009.
FSC Chain of Custody
.......................................................................
The FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) is an important part of purchasing FSC Materials and Products. Thru third party certification, annual audits and strict guidelines, the FSC CoC process assures our customers that the FSC principles and guidlines were upheld from forest to finished product. For those looking to apply their FSC products towards LEED® NC 2.2 MR 7 credit, the FSC CoC process is a mandatory part of the documentation requirements of this credit.
It is important to understand that only FSC CoC certified companies can supply a full chain of custody from forest to finished product and an FSC CoC is an integral part of pursuing the LEED® NC 2.2 MR 7 credit.
If you have any questions about your project and the role that FSC goods can play in your attempt to gain credits in the LEED® programs, feel free to contact Brunswick Woodworking's FSC-CoC Administrator, Elton Parrish
